Sister
Survivors celebrated Breast Cancer Month with class as they gather for an
evening on October 18th. Dr. Bishop addressed the group with a warm welcome and
recognition of Breast Cancer Month. He then gave introduction of Anita
Stansfield, our guest speaker. She spoke about her personal experiences of life
including her battle with breast cancer. She is a renown author of over 50
books, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her extensive research and
understanding of psychology as well as her own life experiences has seasoned her
with valuable perspective and insight. She was inspirational and educational.
One reference which she gave taught us the value of living without denial as a
realist. Practicing gratitude daily in our lives and exercising good
communication is vitally important to a healthy life. She helped us view
ourselves as we truly are, beautiful, by reestablishing femininity, and seeing
scars as markers of courage and accomplishment. The room was full of pink
balloons and other decor indicating support of Breast Cancer Research. The
gourmet desserts and fruit/cracker platters were special indulgences. The night
was remarkable because of friendships and relationships. Thank you to all!
Thank you for sharing; I really wish I could have been there! I love seeing all the pictures!
